However, I'm just not seeing anything really exciting. Sure, that could be because it's fall ready to wear and I don't want to see heavy outfits but things that make me look forward to warmth and summer. But still, I can't say that anything really jumped out at me and made me go, "OhmyGOD! I have to have that!"
Anyways, let's discuss, yes?
BCBG Max Azria

So, okay. Let's start with the tights, which are automatically the first thing I look at. Even though, I'm sure that I should be looking at the actual garments instead. Is this some type of a ploy to distract me from looking at the clothes? If so, it's working. The leggings are just so flashy that I barely noticed the shapeless clothes actually on display!
Aside from the leggings, everything was just big and shapeless. Since when did fall equal chunky?!
The first outfit is the only one out of these three I've chosen that I would actually consider wearing. It's the only one with an actually defined waist! What is up with the other two?! The shapes are just so unflattering to the female body: it completely hides a woman's curves and looks like a straight-up sack! The middle outfit just confuses me. The pattern is just so dizzying. The last dress could be cute if it wasn't a sack-shape, but I really doubt it. Back to the only good part of this: the first one. I like how just clean it looks, especially compared to the other two outfits. The draping and shape are just so much more flattering!
Charlotte Ronson

Alright, so I don't know how many of you know this but the agency I'm going to be interning with over the summer actually does fashion show production for Charlotte Ronson. Yes, amazing. And yes, Charlotte Ronson as in Samantha Ronson's twin sister and Mark Ronson's sister. So aside from being a sister and a socialite, she's a designer.
But anyways, onto her collection.
The collection features a bit of an eclectic style. It wasn't very coherent. Sure, it shows her range, but more, it shows her indecisiveness.
The first outfit here is actually pretty strong. It's a pretty masculine outfit. The details of the dress are nice, though not something I would wear. I also don't really like the whole, one-sleeve thing. I think that's been out for a bit, now. However, the dress was styled properly: very good choice for hair, makeup, and shoes/accessories for it! It's very dominatrix-y to me!
Then the second outfit here is just kind of like, "What the hell?" for me. To go from strong and powerful to meek and homey is just really awkward. This outfit is something very middle-America and plain! Also, the choice of a very pale model reinforces that image of Kansas farm-girl. On its own, the dress would be nice: without the shirt underneath but with the belt. Plaid is in style now and the shape of the dress is pretty with the ruffles and bit of femininity. It's just not working with the rest of the outfit, model, and collection.
Then the last dress. I can see how this one ties back to the plaid dress in a way. They have similar sleeves and are styled similarly with the belt. Also, they're both patterned in a very...rural sort of way. (Sorry, couldn't find a better word!) I actually really like this dress. It's very simple, but defined and unique. I like how delicate it is and I love the very small details of the gold piping on the skirt of the dress. It gives it a little something extra from your everyday dress. It's so girly that I'm not sure how it came from the mind of the same designer who thought up the first dress!
Nicole Miller

As we saw in the Charlotte Ronson runway show, fall ready-to-wear doesn't have to be chunky, heavy, and dark. However, Nicole Miller doesn't seem to get that concept.
Here, we see a lot of darks: blacks and blues. And more shapeless dresses that make you yawn.
The first dress is just so boring! It's a black oversized shirt, made to be a dress. I find it completely uninspired and completely uninspiring! Maybe if it was styled with a loud, bright belt, some colorful shoes or tights then it'd look good, but still, it's just a plain black dress! Nothing special at all about this!
And the second dress is just as uninspired as the first, although it has more details and is in a color. How many times have I seen the royal blue, satin, mini-body hugging dress in the past two years? Too many times! And this one isn't even executed nicely! It's very wide-looking on the model and the folds are not very flattering at all.
Then we come to the last dress, which I actually really like. I like the blue incorporated with the black and the mixing of fabrics. I also really like the belt. But then again, I've definitely seen this dress again. It's another body-hugging mini dress. It reminds me of the Dolce & Gabbana bustier dress that Lauren Conrad and Khloe Kardashian wore last year, which is probably why I like this dress.
Final Comments
Overall, I haven't seen anything really fabulous to report on. It's rather uninspired this season and actually, pretty depressing to see fall fashion already, but that's how it is every year. I just was expecting less dreary colors for this fall, but as it looks, it seems like we're getting dark and plain fashion in the fall to make us look like we're wearing sacks. How sad for us!
